Social enterprises driving global change on World Food Day

Every year on 16 October, World Food Day highlights important topics such as food waste, sustainable agriculture, biodiversity, and the challenges faced by fishing communities — all in an effort to combat climate change. This year's theme is "Hand in Hand for Better Foods and a Better Future”. It's the perfect opportunity for us to shine a spotlight on the incredible efforts of social entrepreneurs, who are making everyday life better for so many people and how they're creating a more sustainable and inclusive world.

Calling social entrepreneurs in Poland and Romania

Applications for our Poland and Romania Accelerator are officially open!

IKEA Social Entrepreneurship and NESsT are on the lookout for social enterprises in Poland and Romania to join our newly launched accelerator.

The programme:

The three-year, co-created accelerator programme will support 10 social entrepreneurs interested in scaling their impact. With tailor-made support and financing from NESsT and IKEA Social Entrepreneurship, it will focus on enterprises that have a social and environmental impact. Selection will be given to those that lack financing options and that can most benefit from the programme’s advisory and mentoring services.

Our goal with this accelerator is to ensure the employment of 1,200 vulnerable and excluded communities in the region. These include youth, at-risk women, ethnic minorities, migrants and refugees, smallholder farmers, and people with different abilities to access better job opportunities and improve their income.
