Social enterprises driving global change on World Food Day

Every year on 16 October, World Food Day highlights important topics such as food waste, sustainable agriculture, biodiversity, and the challenges faced by fishing communities — all in an effort to combat climate change. This year's theme is "Hand in Hand for Better Foods and a Better Future”. It's the perfect opportunity for us to shine a spotlight on the incredible efforts of social entrepreneurs, who are making everyday life better for so many people and how they're creating a more sustainable and inclusive world.

Calling social entrepreneurs in Mexico

Applications for our second Accelerator with New Ventures are officially open!


IKEA Social Entrepreneurship in collaboration with New Ventures and IKEA Mexico is launching the Mexico Accelerator Programme 2021. We’re looking to accelerate 10 enterprises that have a social or environmental impact through a product, service or job creation. Interested enterprises are welcome to apply here.

 The programme:

IKEA Social Entrepreneurship and New Ventures believes that entrepreneurship and innovation are the necessary duo to transform any environment, and that includes generating and developing new opportunities that positively affect the community and contribute to the improvement of everyday life.


Therefore, in this second edition, we aim to support enterprises based in Mexico that are committed to bringing about change in their environment through the best social, environmental or labour practices. The programme will focus on scalable projects that generate equitable and quality employment opportunities. 

Through this accelerator, IKEA Social Entrepreneurship in collaboration with IKEA Mexico and New Ventures will support 10 social enterprises to build capacity and strengthen their business model, fostering a sense of ownership and empowerment to gain greater control over their own future development. IKEA Mexico will also be providing mentoring and tools to reinforce their financial skills.
