Collaboration is key

According to the World Bank, about 100 million additional people are living in poverty as a result of the pandemic and new research estimates that climate change will drive 68 million to 132 million into poverty by 2030. The war in Ukraine is also having a devastating effect with the impacts starting to reach around the world with shortages of energy and food in many regions.

We know that these challenges cannot be addressed without joint effort and new ways of collaborating by all sectors of society. Many businesses are setting themselves ambitious goals to become more people and plant friendly. Corporate discourse on ESG (Environmental, Social, & Governance) and CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) agendas are not only being expected, but demanded.

Inspire and enable

IKEA is committed to a fair and inclusive future. Our ambition is to be circular and climate positive by 2030, and to inspire and enable the many people to live a better everyday life within the boundaries of the planet. We know that we don’t have all the answers and can't achieve our goals alone. Therefore, we’re committed to working together with social entrepreneurs in a collaborative way and being transparent about what we learn together. Corporations are becoming aware that partnering with social enterprises can be a potent way to innovate business models and increase their positive impact on society. 

At IKEA, we also want to learn from these leaders. By integrating IKEA co-workers from all over the globe into our programmes we can also understand how to do our business better. 
How does supporting and working with social enterprises contribute towards these goals?

The social entrepreneurs we work with are front runners in building a fair and equal world and in time, will be fundamental in the rebuilding of Ukraine.  They work against all kinds of odds,  and continue to support vulnerable populations and innovate to address old and new challenges.
