They’re rarely represented in media, films, or culture. When people aren’t visible, stereotypes can remain. Even though laws exist to support inclusion, access often depends on where you live. As a result, many employers feel unsure how to include people with disabilities, and talented people are still left out of the labour market.

Cambiando Modelos is a social enterprise working to change this. They support young people with disabilities in building careers and finding work opportunities, especially in creative industries like media, fashion, and advertising.

Cambiando Modelos was founded in 2017 by Silke Lubzik, inspired by her son Mathias, who has Down syndrome. This personal experience made her realise how often people are seen only by their diagnosis instead of being recognised for their talent. That’s why she created an organisation that challenges stereotypes while opening real work opportunities.

Cambiando Modelos partners with people with disabilities and with companies that want to be more inclusive. Their team is entirely women-led, and they focus on promoting respectful and realistic representation in campaigns and productions.

Their main approach has three parts. They provide training linked to market needs, offer professional representation, and connect talent directly with companies and productions looking to hire inclusively. They also support organisations with guidance and learning so inclusion does not stop after one campaign.

Programme support

During the programme, the Cambiando Modelos team wants to strengthen their training and support methods and grow their network of partner companies to create more paid opportunities. Through the Mexico Accelerator Programme, we’ll support them with mentoring and practical tools to strengthen their business strategy. We’ll also work together to build partnerships that help them grow sustainably. We’re excited to join their efforts and support more people with disabilities to be seen, valued, and fairly paid for their work.
