Makes recycling in Mexico easier by connecting people, waste collection centres, and companies.
Mexico collects about 108,146 tonnes of household waste every day, the same as 100 football fields. In Mexico, the recycling chain is often disconnected. This can make it hard to know what to recycle, where to take it, and what happens next. When recycling is difficult, less material is recovered, which means less value for communities and less benefit for the environment.

Ecolana helps make recycling simpler through a digital platform. It offers Mexico’s largest directory and map of collection centres, helping people find nearby places to take their waste and understand how to sort and separate it in the right way. The directory has around 3,000 points nationwide. Ecolana also offers a clear “dictionary” of materials, so people can check what kind of waste they have and how to prepare it for drop-off.
Ecolana supports recycling of common materials such as paper and cardboard, plastic, and glass. The platform also points to disposal options for harder-to-handle items such as electronics, batteries, tyres, used cooking oil and medicines.
Ecolana connects the people and organisations that make recycling work. By linking users, people who collect and sort recyclables, collection centres, and recycling plants, the platform helps improve traceability and makes the process more efficient.
For companies, Ecolana provides recycling and waste management services. This helps them track materials, improve how they handle waste, and support their circularity goals.

Through the Mexico Accelerator Programme, we’ll support Ecolana to scale their enterprise through different resources, networking and mentoring.
