Ekoinbud combines timber-based construction methods with inclusive employment opportunities.

Workers in the construction industry are often faced with unstable and temporary employment, leaving them in precarious situations. In Poland, these challenges are even worse for people from marginalised groups, such as refugees, women, and at-risk youth, who face significant barriers to securing quality jobs. At the same time, there's a need to adopt sustainable construction practices since traditional building methods contribute significantly to CO2 emissions.

Founded in Gdańsk, Ekoinbud addresses these dual challenges with an innovative approach: community-based construction using timber and prefabricated building techniques. The social enterprise designs, manufactures and constructs prefabricated wooden buildings for public and private use. Ekoinbud's projects include Poland's first wooden hospital and homes designed to meet the needs of elderly people and people with disabilities.

Ekoinbud fosters meaningful employment opportunities. It has created dignified jobs for over 50 individuals from marginalised backgrounds, including refugees displaced by the war in Ukraine. By offering training in manufacturing, design, and construction, as well as internships and apprenticeships, the organisation equips people with the skills needed to thrive in the industry. 25% of Ekoinbud's employees come from marginalised groups, and women hold 75% of managerial roles in a traditionally male-dominated sector.

"Ekoinbud's mission is to create spaces that not only meet the highest sustainability and environmental standards but also serve individual people and our local communities. We act with passion and commitment, with the benefit of future generations in mind."
