Small-scale cacao growers often don’t have access to higher-value markets and may not have the support they need to improve post-harvest handling, agroforestry systems, or daily operations. Without stable income, people sometimes face difficult choices between earning enough to support their families and caring for the forests they rely on.
Jangala Cacao & Selva is a Mexican enterprise that produces high-quality cacao and chocolate, handling everything from bean to bar. It works directly with farming families in regions such as Chiapas, Oaxaca, and Tabasco to advance agroforestry and regenerative farming. By combining local knowledge with technical skills, Jangala helps families improve fermentation, post-harvest handling, and product quality, while recognising their efforts in the forest. The company earns income by selling cacao, chocolate, and related products in Mexico and internationally, with its growth tied to regenerative production.
Jangala works with farming families to build stronger, more reliable production using regenerative methods that protect biodiversity and keep soils healthy. Most of the families they work with are women, and their efforts reach rural and Indigenous communities. Jangala measures its impact by tracking sales growth alongside the number of farming families involved and the amount of land managed with agroforestry. As demand for their cacao products increases, Jangala can bring more families into regenerative production.
Jangala plans to reach more people by increasing sales, opening a new branch, and building a stronger presence in international specialty markets. Over time, they hope to show that regenerative cacao can provide steady incomes, support community wellbeing, and help care for rainforest ecosystems in the long run.
