For the past 15 years, Fundación Proyecto B has supported them in finding their place in society and building better futures through crime prevention and job opportunities.
Proyecto B prepares young people for the workforce through job-readiness training, connects them to corporate job openings, and supports them during their first months on the job. The programme combines job skills training with emotional support. Psychologists help participants build confidence and get ready for roles where they are most likely to succeed.
They found that real change happens when job training, emotional support, and employers work together. This combination, which is often missing from public programs, is essential for helping young people keep their jobs over time.
In 2021, Proyecto B changed its approach to help young people leaving residential care start living independently. They are also beginning to work with younger teens in vulnerable schools, helping them build positive relationships and learn the value of working together.
To address these challenges, the foundation offers job training and technical courses through OTEC Libres SpA, a social enterprise they started to create more opportunities for young people.
So far, Proyecto B has supported more than 2,000 young people. Over 60% have found jobs, and most stay employed for at least three months. Even better, the rate of reoffending and returning to the justice system has dropped from 36% to 10%.
Programme support
With support from the South America Accelerator Programme, Proyecto B will strengthen its leadership, improve financial management, and help OTEC become a main source of income. The goal is to make the organisation more sustainable and less dependent on public funding.
We’ll also help Proyecto B improve its marketing and sales tools, so they can reach more clients and build a steady, reliable income. By increasing their income and creating more jobs for young people, Proyecto B is making sure that financial stability and social impact grow together as they move forward.
