Even when their products are high-quality, many producers have trouble finding buyers willing to pay a fair price, and their income can change from month to month.
Semillero de Empresas Rurales is a commercial platform that connects Mayan producers and social enterprises in the Yucatán Peninsula with markets that care about quality and fairness. Through its brands Taller Maya and Traspatio Maya, Semillero brings handcrafted and agrodiverse products to more people, blending traditional know-how with designs that fit today’s lives.
Their team works closely with producer groups to design products, maintain high quality, and ensure everyone has clear sales information. By creating fair and transparent value chains, the enterprise supports rural producers to gain the recognition they deserve and makes craftsmanship and agricultural diversity a more dependable source of income.
To date, Semillero de Empresas Rurales has supported more than 2,600 people. This means more artisans and producers now have a steadier income, helping their families and communities thrive. The enterprise measures its impact by tracking producers' earnings each month and sharing sales data openly, so everyone knows what is selling and where products go. By focusing on fair income, Semillero is helping to strengthen the local economy and bring more financial security to the region.
Semillero aims to increase sales without making life harder for producers. It is gradually improving logistics, supporting new ideas, and strengthening its systems so that more rural businesses can grow while staying true to their roots.
