Yummus Foods promotes regenerative agriculture and plant-based healthy products to change the world, one chickpea at a time.

In Mexico, increasingly unreliable traditional crops due to climate change and the rapid spread of disease leave farmers with unpredictable incomes. At the same time, Mexico is experiencing high rates of malnutrition, obesity, and diabetes due to an abundance of chemically laden, unhealthy food products. With nearly one-third of Mexicans living in food insecurity, 75% of adults and 35.6% of children grappling with obesity, and 18% of the population affected by diabetes, the need for a change is clear.

Rodrigo, co-founder of Yummus Foods, was born in Guatemala and began his career in the retail food industry, where he discovered the potential of social impact projects and identified a gap in the healthy products market. Alongside his co-founder Siman, inspired by Middle Eastern culinary traditions, they realised the potential of the hummus market and the nutritional power of chickpeas. Their vision materialised into Yummus Foods, a social enterprise aimed at creating a healthier world.

Yummus Foods promotes sustainable farming and health-conscious food production. The enterprise offers a variety of wholesome chickpea products created through a value chain that starts with educating farmers on regenerative agriculture and ends with supporting initiatives aimed at nutrition, reforestation, and clean water.

Yummus Foods works closely with distributors in Mexico and Guatemala and collaborates with local cooperatives to provide farmers with regenerative agriculture training. This ensures better land use, fair pricing, and prompt payments, stabilising farmer's income and livelihood, and creating a sustainable future for them.

For consumers, Yummus Foods offers vegan, 100% natural products that boast 50% more fibre than similar plant-based options, with no added sugars. Every purchase supports NGOs dedicated to critical causes like nutrition, reforestation, and clean water.
