Rezycology's digital solution creates a better life for waste pickers and improves Indonesia's plastic recycling system

Indonesia is the second-largest plastic polluter in the world after China, a problem made worse because the national recycling rate is only 7%. Additionally, 95% of recyclable plastics are collected by the informal sector, which faces challenges with traceability, poor administration, and high contamination.

Rezycology is working to address this challenge by creating a holistic digital solution for the plastic recycling industry. Through a mobile application, integrated dashboard, and partner development services, Rezycology empowers plastic waste aggregators to digitise their businesses. This digitisation not only improves traceability but also enhances the overall standards of sales.

With seven recycling stations, four recycling hubs, and three village-owned enterprises, Rezycology has already made progress towards a greener world. In 2022, the company recycled over 1,000 tonnes of plastics and collaborated with over 3,500 waste pickers and collectors.

CEO Dewa Ayu Nyoman Octalia Stefani, or Fani, is passionate about being a social entrepreneur and creating a positive impact in Indonesia.

Programme support

By 2030, Rezycology aims to recycle 16 million kilograms of plastic and empower 10,000 plastic waste collectors. During I-SEA, we'll support the company in developing market penetration and B2C channel strategies, identifying strategic partnerships, and exploring further opportunities to scale it's business and impact.
