Homely connects domestic workers to clients and ensures good working conditions for them.
In Mexico, 98.3% of domestic workers have no access to social security, 99.2% don’t even have a formal contract and 71.3% don’t receive any benefits apart from their salary. All these factors contribute to the fact that only 10.6% of the families of these domestic workers can be considered to be out of poverty conditions.
Homely wants to give domestic workers, whom they call ‘Keepers’ a safe, steady, and fair job by connecting them with clients and backing them up to ensure good working conditions. This is achieved with two types of collaborations called "Independent Keepers" and "Full-Time Keepers":
- Independent Keepers can decide the days and hours she or he will be working for the households subscribed to Homely. They are provided with private health insurance, job contracts, tax guidance, and financial inclusion process in the formal economy, and their income is ensured to be above the Mexican minimum wage
- Full-Time Keepers are employed by large corporations and are given a formal contract and all the benefits of an employee. They have a steady salary and receive Homely’s help to ensure they have a safe and inclusive work environment.
Since 2016 Homely has supported 695 domestic workers throughout three different states in Mexico. Domestic workers can increase their income between 2x and 5x by collaborating and they have an allocation algorithm to decrease discrimination against their Keepers so everyone can have a fair shot.
Homely keeps on learning how to build a commercial strategy to exponential their growth in the B2B market, which would help them to increase the number of beneficiaries at a faster pace.
They also want to improve their impact measurement techniques and look for alliances and ideas to expand the benefits they provide to the Keepers and their families.
