A man and women in happy conversation at an event

Driving strategic alliances for a sustainable future in Mexico and Latin America

Last week, we brought together leaders from various industries in Mexico to promote corporate sustainability and showcase social entrepreneurship as a key driver for creating a better everyday life for people from vulnerable and marginalised communities.

Evolve, now in its third year, is a collaboration between us and New Ventures. It’s part of our long-term partnership to support the social entrepreneurship ecosystem in Mexico, which includes the Mexico Accelerator Programme.

The event aims to create a space for leaders and experts committed to building a sustainable future to get inspired, exchange knowledge, and explore collaborations. Evolve 2024 offered a unique opportunity to explore the latest trends in corporate social innovation with discussion panels discussions from corporates, social enterprises and financers, such as Coca-Cola, BBVA, RappiCard, Básicos de México, Someone Somewhere, and Viwala, exchanging ideas on social procurement, socio-environmental innovation, and intrapreneurship.

Fátima Álvarez, co-founder and impact director of Someone Somewhere, highlighted that "to start implementing social procurement in a company, it is essential to find those willing to align their purposes with ours. Once we achieve that connection, we can move together towards sustainability actions with a tangible impact."

Complementing the panel discussions, IKEA Mexico, the Mexican Council for Financial Reporting Standards (CNIF), and Sarape Social hosted workshops on organisational culture, sustainability metrics, and impact communication. These sessions provided practical tools, ensuring that leaders left the event equipped to implement sustainable strategies in their organisations.

Armando Laborde, Managing Partner of Strategy at New Ventures, emphasised, "We celebrate 20 years since the founding of New Ventures, demonstrating that it is possible to address social issues through entrepreneurship. It is gratifying to see how more companies are committed to sustainability. Each year, we collaborate with 250 entrepreneurs, and this growth has led us to expand our range of services to continue supporting those who seek to generate a positive impact."

Thomas Eckschmidt, the founder of the conscious capitalism movement in Brazil, Peru, and Colombia, highlighted the importance of building a more conscious business ecosystem. He underscored the need to promote a culture of responsibility led by people committed to society's well-being and the environment's care.

We're thrilled to have supported another successful Evolve event, inspiring and empowering those who are eager to integrate social innovation into their corporate strategies. Together, we're transforming sustainability from a concept into concrete, tangible actions.

Thank you to everyone who joined, bringing their enthusiasm, ideas, and openness. Your participation was instrumental in making this event a success.
