Through pre-school daycare and social inclusion services, the foundation is creating new opportunities for those who need them most.
As the first social enterprise of its kind in the area, Blisko Foundation runs two bilingual kindergartens and a nursery under the Baby Academy brand, welcoming over 100 children each day. Specialised therapists are on hand to support children with developmental disorders, helping them to learn, grow, and thrive, while also offering guidance and support to their families.
The foundation’s community social kitchen, Karmnik, brings people together over fresh, home-cooked meals. Here, migrants, refugees, people with disabilities, and others facing tough circumstances find meaningful work preparing daily meals for schools, companies, and associations, as well as catering for events and delivering food to elderly residents.
Every meal purchased at Karmnik helps to fund meals for people in need, with the foundation aiming to provide up to 4,000 free meals each month for seniors facing loneliness, single parents, people experiencing homelessness, and children from low-income families. Revenue is reinvested into social activities, and the kitchen also offers professional training and internships for local residents who are struggling to find work.
Blisko Foundation’s internships, workshops, and training programmes support people with mental and physical disabilities in building new skills and, for many, take their first steps toward independence. Through a partnership with the local Vocational Activity Facility Malwa, the foundation offers internships and apprenticeships that give participants the chance to join in social and professional activities in a safe, supportive environment.
Programme support
Blisko Foundation brings together education, good food, and social inclusion in a region where many families struggle to find stable work. Building on its impact so far, the foundation is looking to expand its model and open new social kitchens in nearby districts where people face similar challenges.
With support from the Central and Eastern Europe Accelerator programme, Blisko Foundation will renovate its social kitchen and equip it with new tools and technology. Technical support will help Blisko Foundation grow its impact even further. While in the accelerator programme, the foundation aims to employ at least 15 more people from groups at risk of exclusion and offer vocational internships and training to over 100 people with physical and intellectual disabilities.
