Laboro empowers construction workers in Mexico by unlocking higher incomes, promoting professional growth, and providing formal employment opportunities.

In Mexico, over 80% of the construction sector operates informally. For workers, the lack of formal employment directly impacts income, well-being, education, and access to credit and insurance. For customers, it often translates to trust issues and significant security risks.

Laboro, formerly known as Milusos, aims to transform the Mexican construction sector by fostering trust and formality. The social enterprise connects certified and insured craftspeople with corporate and residential clients, ensuring high-quality and reliable services.

Laboro offers a comprehensive solution for customers, encompassing everything from planning and financing to contracting and delivery guarantees for all remodelling, repairing, and building needs. This comprehensive approach reassures customers and instils confidence in Laboro's services.

For craftspeople, Laboro has many benefits. Contractors earn around two times more than the national average. They also enjoy health and tool insurance and receive training to enhance their technical skills. As their client base grows, they can also access accounting services, further professionalising their trade.

By providing affordable subscription services, Laboro empowers craftspeople with formal jobs, higher incomes, and opportunities for continuous learning. This creates a ripple effect of financial freedom and professional growth within the community.

Daniel Ricchiuti, one of Laboro's founders, is a passionate and transparent leader. The MIT Technology Review recognised him as one of the 35 Innovators Under 35 in Latin America for his impact and entrepreneurial efforts. His vision for Laboro as the largest digital remodeler in Latin America includes providing fair and dignified incomes for skilled labour.

Programme support

Laboro has collaborated with notable partners to supply skilled labour for furniture assembly and provided turnkey solutions for houses and apartments sold by real estate agencies. During the Mexico Accelerator Programme, we'll support Laboro with mentoring in social impact and business scaling strategy to refine Laboro's value proposition and increase participation rates.

We look forward to supporting Laboro as it improves lives and industries by bridging the gap between informal and formal employment in Mexico.
