OtherAI develops affordable and interactive sign language education solutions using Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Augmented Reality (AR) technology.

The deaf community in Mexico continues facing significant challenges like exclusion, stereotyping and lack of awareness about sign language and deaf culture. Parents and educators sometimes are not aware of the importance of early sign language acquisition, and they lack the right resources to teach deaf children sign language. This educational gap leads to poor cognitive development in children, social exclusion, and lower employment rates later in life.

Other AI is a social enterprise that wants to improve sign language training and education to unlock opportunities for people living with deafness. Their objective is to support teachers and parents in deaf literacy education so more students can learn sign language and improve their quality of life and opportunities.

OtherAI uses Artificial Intelligence and Augmented Reality technologies to create inclusive learning experiences that empower Deaf or Hard of Hearing (DHH) children, families, and educators. For instance, one of their learning offers is SignPlay that promotes early language acquisition, bonding hearing parents with deaf children and it is available for all those who want to learn sign language.

By democratizing sign language education, Other AI is raising awareness about the cultural and linguistic richness of deaf communities through learning solutions. If more people can use and understand sign language (not only people living with deafness) it’ll be possible to foster greater societal understanding and integration.

Programme support

Other AI is planning to increase their corporate and governmental partnerships to ensure sustainable growth. Through the Mexico Accelerator Programme we’ll support them strengthening their business strategy so they can secure funding and increase their impact. We’re excited to support them in their journey and make sign language education accessible to more children, families, and educators.
