Ekoinbud creates a more inclusive and sustainable future by combining green building practices with meaningful job creation for marginalised communities.
Workers in the construction industry are often faced with unstable and temporary employment, leaving them in precarious situations. In Poland, these challenges are even worse for people from marginalised groups, such as refugees, women, and at-risk youth, who face significant barriers to securing quality jobs. At the same time, there's a need to adopt sustainable construction practices since traditional building methods contribute significantly to CO2 emissions.

Founded in Gdańsk, Ekoinbud addresses these dual challenges with an innovative approach: community-based, eco-friendly construction that prioritises environmental sustainability and social inclusion. The social enterprise designs, manufactures, and constructs prefabricated wooden buildings, which are energy-efficient, durable, and consume up to 75% less CO2 than traditional building methods. Ekoinbud's projects include Poland's first wooden hospital and sustainable homes tailored for the elderly and people with disabilities.
Ekoinbud fosters meaningful employment opportunities. It has created dignified jobs for over 50 individuals from marginalised backgrounds, including refugees displaced by the war in Ukraine. By offering training in manufacturing, design, and construction, as well as internships and apprenticeships, the organisation equips people with the skills needed to thrive in the industry. 25% of Ekoinbud's employees come from marginalised groups, and women hold 75% of managerial roles in a traditionally male-dominated sector.
"Ekoinbud's mission is to create spaces that not only meet the highest sustainability and environmental standards but also serve individual people and our local communities. We act with passion and commitment, with the benefit of future generations in mind."
— Tomasz Balcerowski, CEO of Ekoinbud
