QYOS provides automatic refill stations for household products to reduce Indonesia’s excessive amount of non-recyclable plastic waste
QYOS is a digital-based start-up that provides automatic refill stations for household products, conveniently located close to customers’ homes. This way, the social enterprise contributes to reducing the excessive amount of plastic waste that puts Indonesia at high risk of health problems, water and air pollution, flooding, and economic losses.
Founded in 2020, QYOS offers smart vending machines for product refills and an app that lets customers track their purchases. With their refill station system, the social enterprise gives consumers the chance to replace the usual plastic packages of their daily goods with refillable and reusable containers. They can also purchase their products in bulk quantities at lower prices compared to the usual single packaged items. No cash is needed: customers pay digitally with the QYOS app.
With their easily accessible solution, the social enterprise responds to the growing demand by conscious consumers in Indonesia, who want to reduce the amount of non-recyclable plastics ending up in garbage containers and eventually, in the environment. Since its founding, QYOS has already served over 2,700 satisfied customers.
Successfully building a scalable refill-and-reuse model, the social enterprise has worked with several multinational consumer brands and multiple pilot locations within Jakarta, making their products refillable. Through these initial pilot activities, partner companies have seen a drastic reduction of plastic pouches.
The social enterprise has worked with multiple pilot locations in Jakarta and helped different multinational consumer brands to make their products refillable. While their partner companies have seen a drastic reduction of plastic pouches, these pilots have enabled QYOS to successfully build and test their refill-and-reuse model, making it ready to scale.

The opportunity of learning and collaborating with IKEA, one of the most inspiring brands out there, is special on its own. As QYOS is going to focus on partnering with retailers in the upcoming years, this opportunity will be a great avenue for us to connect with mentors and experts that have the knowledge and experience we need to achieve this goal.
