Calling social entrepreneurs in East Africa

Applications for our second East Africa Accelerator are officially open!


IKEA Social Entrepreneurship and our partner Acumen are on the lookout for social entrepreneurs in East Africa to join our accelerator programme.

To qualify, you must:

  • Focus on promoting livelihoods, equality, and inclusion
  • Have proven customer demand and demonstrated increasing annual revenue
  • Have a team equivalent to 3 full-time staff
  • Run a social enterprise (co-op, non-profit or for-profit) based in Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, or Ethiopia

This intensive 19-week programme starts June 2021 with IKEA co-workers playing an active role in sharing their knowledge, skills and experiences. It will support participating social enterprises develop scalable business models to strengthen their capacity to scale, thus improving the lives of people who are vulnerable and marginalised.

At IKEA Social Entrepreneurship, we aim to create greater opportunities for vulnerable and marginalised people. By working with Acumen and supporting social entrepreneurs, we hope to give the people who need it better access to critical goods, services and sustainable livelihoods/jobs.
