Welcome Mueblea in Colombia to our South America Accelerator
The Mexico Accelerator Programme is co-created by IKEA Social Entrepreneurship and New Ventures, with the support of IKEA Mexico. Since 2020, the programme has supported the acceleration of 40 social enterprises in driving societal change and economic growth. Now, we’re welcoming another round of ten enterprises, focusing on adopting fair trade and circular economy practices.
“We’re excited to welcome and kick off the fifth cohort of social enterprises in the MAP accelerator with New Ventures. The social entrepreneurs’ shared commitment to improving livelihoods together with the most vulnerable and marginalised communities in Mexico, is a true inspiration and we are happy to support and contribute to their impact journey,” said Åsa Skogström Feldt, Managing Director of IKEA Social Entrepreneurship.
Throughout their 14-month acceleration journey, social entrepreneurs receive tailor-made support for scaling. The programme facilitates relevant business connections via networking opportunities and offers personalised training and strategic mentorship from IKEA co-workers and different industry experts. Ten senior IKEA leaders join the programme as thought partners, providing strategic guidance to entrepreneurs and, in turn, learning about innovative new business models. Each social enterprise also gets access to funding to boost its business operations and expand its positive reach in the ecosystem.
“Different with a meaning is one of the eight core values at IKEA, and nothing embodies an entrepreneur better than thinking outside the box. That’s why we naturally collaborate with the Mexico Accelerator Programme (MAP). By fostering business models that benefit both people and the planet, we can move towards our founder’s dream: a glorious future,” said Daniela Brito, Sustainability Manager at IKEA Mexico.
The ten social enterprises selected for the MAP’s fifth generation are innovative solutions in critical fields, such as sustainable agriculture, circular economy, and inclusion. They’re aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, and work on reducing poverty, promoting urban sustainability, and combating climate change across Mexico.
Recently, the MAP Opening Summit 2025, held in Mexico City, brought together the new cohort of social enterprises and their respective IKEA Thought Partners. Participants got to know each other via fireside chats, workshops and networking drinks and had the opportunity to learn how IKEA operates by visiting the IKEA Mexico store.
We're thrilled to welcome the following social enterprises to the programme:
Bats’il Maya supports Tseltal families ensuring fair incomes by selling high-quality, sustainably produced organic coffee directly to consumers.
Cerrando el Ciclo creates self-employment opportunities for women who use glass waste to create sustainable, attractive and functional products.
ChopValue transforms discarded chopsticks into new furniture and products, reducing waste and lowering their carbon footprint.
Instituto Bios Terra supports Mexican coffee farmers through sustainable agriculture techniques, training and access to market.
Kwara modernises the traditional Mexican footwear “huarache” by making it more comfortable, sustainable and offering fair employment to local manufacturers.
Mitz supports women from vulnerable communities though work skills and financial education to reach economic independence.
OtherAI develops affordable and interactive sign language education solutions using Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Augmented Reality (AR) technology.
Sal de Aquí revitalises ancestral salt harvesting practices, ensuring fair wages for producers, and offering a healthier alternative to processed salt.
Simón improves workforce development by developing AI-powered learning solutions for frontline workers.
SIR Ambiental offers an intelligent waste management system that allows companies to simplify their waste management process and have accurate data about their CO2 emissions.
These businesses present great examples of combining social impact with economic growth. Consequently, they are empowering the social entrepreneurship movement and helping to build a more equitable, inclusive, and sustainable future in Mexico.
As we continue our commitment to nurturing social innovation and impact, it’s our pleasure, alongside with New Ventures to support the social enterprises joining MAP V. We look forward to seeing the meaningful changes these enterprises will bring. Together, we’re eager to witness their growth and contributions to creating a better everyday life for the many people in Mexico.
