An affordable finance solution for farmers in Uganda coupled with training in climate-smart agriculture and market access

In Uganda, the livelihoods of smallholder farmers have been severely affected as they have no source of income. This is due to the fact that market prices for agricultural commodities have fallen drastically leaving these farmers and their dependents in severe economic crisis.

Agropreneur Initiative is a youth-led organisation, that offers an affordable finance solution providing in-kind input loans for smallholder farmers coupled with training in climate-smart agriculture and access to markets for their produce.

The social enterprise can be seen as an agricultural project striving to empower untapped, local potential to affect lasting change in diverse communities of Africa. Their programs are designed to bridge the gap of immediate fund access for rural-based smallholder farmers practising Climate Smart Agriculture but constrained by limited access to formal credit.

They do this by providing these farmers with input loans, climate-smart training and source their produce at a decent price. To date, they've trained and are working with 15,000 farmers in 6 water catchment areas of Uganda on climate-smart agriculture.

Worth mentioning is that Agropreneur Initiative is a youth-led organisation that also aids over 3.000.000 farmers who are struggling by providing them with the basics such as food, medicines, rent support and sanitation. They are especially focused on supporting the low-income female farmers that include single mothers, those living with HIV and refugees in the rural areas of Uganda.
